Solve the projection conditions for the unknowns q (see module doc).

bracket=(a, b) (scalar q, sign change required): Brent with xtol. q0 (vector): Newton with forward differences of step fd_step (required), stopped at ‖Δq‖ ≤ xtol·max(1, ‖q‖).
